An emergency exercise was carried out at Münster/Osnabrück Airport on Saturday, November 12, 2023. Just one day later, the emergency services were told “this is not a drill” because a Ryanair Group Boeing 737 landed with a technical defect.

It was actually supposed to go from Palma de Mallorca to Dortmund on November 13, 2023. During the flight, however, the pilots discovered a problem in the area of the landing flaps. Since the runway at FMO is longer, we decided to land here.

All passengers and crew members were able to safely exit the Boeing 737-800. However, the fire brigade was called upon because the medium-haul jet had to land at a higher speed than usual. This put a lot of strain on the brakes. As a precaution, the Florianis then cooled them. Otherwise, the emergency services, who had extensively trained in the emergency just a day before, were not needed.
