Last Friday, Mönchengladbach Airport (MGL) welcomed the Finance Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Dr. Marcus Optendrenk. The minister was informed about the airport's current developments and future prospects, accompanied by District President Thomas Schürmann and state parliament members Vanessa Odermatt and Jochen Klenner.

The focus of the visit was on sustainable mobility concepts and technological innovations that are being tested at the airport. The most important projects include the "Aviation Campus", which is intended to centralize the training of skilled workers, and the development of the race track, which could create up to 1000 jobs. The first 737 MAX full-flight simulator approved in Germany was also inspected at the RWL German Flight Academy.

The MGL is increasingly positioning itself as an innovation and training center for aviation and plans to drive these developments forward through close cooperation with political actors.
