On January 16, 2024, some aviation fans were bitterly disappointed by Austrian Airlines. The OS205/206 run was announced with the Boeing 777-200ER, but nothing came of it.

One disgruntled passenger wrote to Aviation.Direct, among other things: "Here, too, numerous aviation friends had booked exactly these flights after the announcement and were now bitterly disappointed, 'bitterly' because OS gave no information as to why...".

At short notice, another aircraft was used instead of the planned widebody. Anyone who had booked this connection specifically to fly on the short-haul Boeing 777-200ER was out of luck. When asked, Austrian Airlines explained: “Unfortunately, such plans often have to be changed or optimized spontaneously for a variety of reasons. We ask for your understanding in this regard.”
