The Polish airline Lot will not get a “clone” under the name Lotair. The state holding company PGL has decided that the project will be canceled and the company Lotair SA will be liquidated.

A few years ago, a company was founded under the name “Lot Polish Airlines” to act as the second airline within the group. Because of the high risk of confusion, this was subsequently done the wording changed to “Lotair”. An application for the issuance of AOC and operating license was submitted to the Polish Civil Aviation Authority, but the process has been suspended since October 2020. So far it has not been resumed.

In March of the previous year, the then Lot board announced that the Lotair project had been paused for at least two years. Now the owner, the state holding company PGL, has decided that Lotair will be liquidated. The project, for which it was never entirely clear what the exact purpose should be, is now completely over.

Neither PGL nor Lot have ever commented conclusively on why a “Lot copy” was founded. There was a lot of speculation, for example that Lot could be relaunched or that the decentralized flights - for example from Budapest - could be transferred to a possible new AOC. No official statement was ever made. This is now completely obsolete anyway, because the Lotair project has ended and the company is being liquidated.
