Premiere at Bern Airport: First flight to Monastir

Advertising

Bern Airport has ushered in a new era: For the first time, a holiday flight to the Tunisian coastal resort of Monastir has taken off. This new connection was launched and celebrated in cooperation with Helvetic Airways, Tui Suisse, and Hotelplan. Last year, Bern Airport had already taken a remarkable step with its first non-European scheduled flight to Djerba, Tunisia.

On Friday morning, a well-booked Helvetic Embraer E190 took off on time for Monastir. Numerous passengers and invited guests were greeted at the gate with breakfast. Representatives of the participating companies, including Gabriela Turtschi-Grossniklaus from Bern Airport, Tobias Pogorevc from Helvetic, Nicole Pfammatter from Hotelplan Suisse, and Erich Mühlemann from Tui Suisse, expressed their delight at the new destination. Tunisia is a popular destination, especially for families, due to its attractive prices and child-friendly beaches. Thalassotherapy in Tunisia is also appreciated by guests from French-speaking Switzerland.

The new connection to Monastir complements the service from Bern, which already includes Djerba and serves demand for Tunisia in the region. The partners particularly highlight Bern Airport, which, with its friendly atmosphere and direct proximity to the aircraft, offers a unique travel experience. The flight time to Monastir is approximately two hours and ten minutes.
