Real Estate Brand Award ceremony: Real estate brand at Vienna Airport receives industry award

At the European Real Estate Brand Awards ceremony on June 25, 2026, Vienna AirportCity received an award in the "Business Campus Austria" category. The award, based on an annual brand value study by the European Real Estate Brand Institute, was presented to the commercial real estate complex at Vienna-Schwechat Airport.

At the same time, Wolfgang Scheibenpflug, head of the Real Estate and Location Management division of Flughafen Wien AG (Vienna Airport), received a personal award as Leader of the Year in this category. According to the company, more than 250 businesses are currently located on the airport hub, providing a total of over 23.000 jobs.

Site management is reporting ongoing construction activity on the grounds to meet the demand for office and commercial space in the immediate vicinity of the airport. The existing Office Park 4 building offers approximately 26.000 square meters of office and conference space. Due to high occupancy, an extension, Office Park 4 NEXT, is currently under construction and is expected to provide an additional 17.000 square meters of usable space by 2028. In addition to the office space, the campus features adjacent infrastructure facilities such as hotels, restaurants, a fitness center, and training and healthcare facilities.

Real estate analysts consider the expansion of business parks at international transport hubs to be common practice for airport operators to stabilize revenues from non-aviation businesses. This diversification serves as a hedge against cyclical fluctuations in the volatile passenger and cargo air traffic. However, critics point out that the long-term profitability of large office complexes on the outskirts of major cities is increasingly affected by the ongoing trend toward working from home and virtual conferences. The occupancy rate of future expansion phases therefore depends significantly on the willingness of large companies to permanently establish administrative units at transport hubs outside city centers.
