The works councils and the Vida trade union will hold works meetings at the Austrian railway companies in the period from 2 to 7 November 2022. These are carried out in stages, but cancellations and delays can still occur.

The reason for the current works meetings is that the special KV negotiations have come to a standstill. In addition, the willingness of the employees to participate in trade union activities is queried at the meetings.

On November 2nd, Wednesday, the works meetings in the railway companies in Vorarlberg and in Tyrol will start, on November 3rd they will be continued in Carinthia and Styria. The meetings in Salzburg and Upper Austria will follow on Friday, November 4th. In the eastern region (Burgenland, Lower Austria, Vienna), the final works meetings will take place on Monday, November 7th. A total of over 100 works meetings lasting around one and a half hours will take place in the railway companies over these four days. In Tyrol, Vorarlberg, Styria and Carinthia (Wednesday and Thursday) most meetings are held between 13 and 14:30 p.m., in Upper Austria and Salzburg (Friday) from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. In Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland (Monday), the vast majority of railway workers are informed about the status of the KV negotiations between 13 p.m. and 14:30 p.m.

“Works meetings in the railway sector have been convened with great regard to the needs of passengers in view of the times. However, impairments in train traffic are to be expected and cannot be ruled out on the respective assembly days. It depends on how strongly the employees make use of their right to participate in the works meetings," says Vida trade unionist Tauchner.
