Romaero: Insolvency proceedings opened

The Romanian aviation supplier Romaero is in bankruptcy proceedings. The relevant application was submitted to the responsible court in Bucharest before Christmas 2023. Proceedings have now been opened and an insolvency administrator has been appointed.

Romaero was once active in the production of commercial aircraft. For example, the Rombac One-Eleven was produced. This was a licensed production from BAC One-Eleven. In the past, Ryanair, among others, had some copies of the Romanian model.

Most recently, Romaero specialized in repairs of military aircraft. As a subcontractor, various components were also manufactured for other manufacturers. According to the company, the insolvency was triggered by losing an appeal in a legal dispute and having to pay a claim worth millions in the USA.
