The Jordanian national airline Royal Jordanian has significantly expanded its route network in North America and launched a new non-stop service between Amman and Dallas on May 10, 2026.
The airline now operates four weekly flights between Queen Alia International Airport and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, optimized for long-haul flights of this type, are used. Dallas is the airline's fifth destination in the United States, following Washington, Chicago, New York, and Detroit. The company cites high demand from the Jordanian and Arab communities in Texas, as well as its strategic importance as an economic center, as the reasons for choosing Texas as the base.
The expansion is part of a comprehensive strategic growth plan with which Royal Jordanian aims to increase its fleet to approximately 40 aircraft and serve around 60 destinations worldwide in the coming years. Samer Majali, CEO of Royal Jordanian, emphasized the importance of the new route for expanding the airline's international network. The connection is intended to promote economic exchange and tourism between Jordan and the United States. Furthermore, its integration into the global Oneworld alliance, which also includes Dallas-based American Airlines, provides passengers with numerous connecting flights within the Americas.
A key factor influencing the timing of the route's launch is the anticipated significant increase in travel volume in anticipation of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the USA, among other countries. Amman is thus increasingly positioning itself as a regional hub for transit passengers from the Middle East heading to destinations in North America. Industry experts point out that the direct connection to Texas will also strengthen trade relations in the energy and technology sectors. Queen Alia International Airport expects the new service to result in a noticeable increase in international connectivity and cargo volume.
The new route reflects the trend toward decentralization in international air travel, with an increasing focus on establishing direct connections to secondary hubs beyond the traditional coastal metropolises. For Royal Jordanian, the move to Dallas strengthens its competitive position with other airlines from the Gulf region. The airline is leveraging the advantages of the Dreamliner, whose cabin design and range enable efficient operation of this ultra-long-haul route. With the addition of Dallas, Jordan is also solidifying its role as a political and economic bridgehead in the Levant region.
