Ryanair sues against seat limit at Dublin Airport

Ryanair is planning legal action against the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) to prevent a seat cap of 25,2 million for the 2025 summer scheduling period at Dublin Airport.

This cap is the result of a planning requirement that limits passenger capacity to 32 million per year. The airline criticizes that this will reduce the number of seats available by more than a million and cause significant economic damage. Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary describes the cap as unlawful and calls for the resignation of the Irish Transport Minister.

The IAA refers to planning decisions from 2007, which are still valid. The airport operator DAA supports the measures, but points out the negative economic consequences that result from the restriction.
