For the first time, the Scandinavian airline SAS is taking part in the Aviation Challenge of the Skyteam airline alliance, of which it has recently joined.

To this end, SAS launched a special flight on October 24, 2024 on the Copenhagen-Los Angeles route, which in 1954 was the first to cross the North Pole and connected Europe and North America. Then as now, SAS is striving for efficiency and emission reduction with the route. According to Mads Brandstrup Nielsen, a SAS spokesman, participation in the Skyteam Challenge is a sign of the commitment to greater sustainability. During the flight, SAS optimizes all operational processes to further minimize the ecological footprint.
