Aircraft manufacturer General Atomics Aerotec Systems has begun final assembly of the first Do228 NXT. This advanced development of the well-known Dornier Do228 is being built at the Oberpfaffenhofen site, with key production steps being carried out in-house. According to the company, series production is proceeding according to plan, and delivery of the first aircraft is expected in the coming months.
The Do228 NXT features several technical improvements. These include LED cabin lighting, a modern air conditioning system, improved braking systems, and an updated navigation system. According to General Atomics Aerotec Systems, the key components for this aircraft are sourced from Germany and Europe. The fuselage of the NXT series is manufactured by the French company Potez Aéronautique and delivered to Oberpfaffenhofen for final assembly.
The original Dornier Do228 made its maiden flight in 1981 and was built until 1998. A modernized version called the Do2009 NG was introduced in 228. General Atomics Europe took over production of the Do2021 in 228 and developed it into the Do228 NXT, which is currently in production. The DoXNUMX is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft with short takeoff and landing capabilities, making it suitable for a variety of missions due to its versatility.
