Simaisma Beach closed for five years for major project

The popular family beach in Simaisma will be closed for five years starting June 10. This measure is part of an ambitious new development project that aims to transform the region north of Doha into a major tourism center. The extended closure will mean a noticeable change for local families who have previously used the beach as a nearby recreational area.

Until now, Simaisma was considered a preferred family beach for Doha residents seeking a coastal escape without a long commute. Located approximately 40 kilometers north of the capital—a roughly XNUMX-minute drive—the beach stretched across seven kilometers of pristine shoreline on Qatar's east coast. It offered ample space for barbecues and seaside relaxation, and was also a fully maintained beach with amenities such as food stalls, a children's playground, and a dedicated women-only area for convenient swimming.

Behind the now beginning Simaisma Project the local real estate developer Qatari DiarIt is part of Qatar's broader efforts to improve tourism in the country and further transform the country. The project envisages the development of resorts spread across four zones, each with a unique design and character. Among the planned facilities is the Land of Legends Kingdom Hotel, which is part of the well-known Rixos Premium Belek complex and is designed specifically for children, with a focus on family-friendly entertainment. A futuristic Music Hotel is being planned, which will unite the vibrant multicultural celebrations of world music in a modern setting.

The heart of the project will be a huge theme park called Land of legends, which will cover an area of 650.000 square meters and is scheduled to be completed by 2028. Furthermore, the development of a Trump International Golf Club announced, which will include an eighteen-hole championship golf course and Trump-branded residential villas. The amenities will be complemented by a yacht marina, fine dining, and luxury shopping centers. This comprehensive development aims to transform Simaisma into a premier tourism destination in Doha and a new cultural attraction for the country, combining sun, beach, and style in a Qatari way.
