The Greek airline Sky Express will significantly expand its route network to and from Germany in the 2025/2026 winter flight schedule. Starting at the end of October, the airline plans to launch flights from Berlin and Hamburg to the Greek capital Athens, as well as from Düsseldorf to Thessaloniki. This expansion strengthens Germany's connections to key Greek cities and tourist destinations and expands travel options for passengers.
The new route between Berlin and Athens will be served four times a week, while flights to the Greek capital will be offered three times a week from Hamburg. Sky Express will also fly three times a week from Düsseldorf to Thessaloniki, Greece's second-largest city and an important economic and cultural center in the north of the country. These new connections complement the airline's existing daily non-stop flights from Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, and Munich to Athens. The airline, which has become a major player in Greek air transport in recent years, is focused on providing efficient connections.
Through its hub at Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos," Sky Express offers connections to Greece's largest domestic route network. This allows travelers from Germany not only to reach the major cities of Athens and Thessaloniki directly, but also to conveniently travel onward to numerous Greek islands and other mainland destinations. While the winter months are less busy for tourism in Greece than the summer, cities like Athens and Thessaloniki remain attractive destinations for city breaks and business trips year-round.
Sky Express's decision to expand its presence in Germany underscores the growing importance of the German market for Greek aviation and tourism. The airline is pursuing a strategy of direct connections to facilitate access to Greece for travelers from various German regions. This is an indicator of confidence in the demand for travel to the Hellenic Republic, even outside of the traditional peak travel season.
