Somalia: Pilot dies after Fokker 50 accident

The pilot who initially survived the crash of the Fokker 50 with registration 5Y-JWG operated by Jetways Airlines has unfortunately died. This was announced by the UN assistance mission in Somalia.

The plane was traveling on behalf of UNSOM and was supposed to deliver humanitarian goods. During the landing process, the turboprop aircraft veered off the runway. There were three people on board the freighter. Initially it was said that all three had survived. The organization subsequently announced that one of the two pilots unfortunately died afterwards.

The exact circumstances of the accident that occurred a few days ago on the Airstip Eelbarde are to be clarified by the Somali Civil Aviation Authority. The United Nations has said it will support Jetways and the offices.
