TUI Airline and Airxelerate agree on strategic partnership in B2B sales

Tui Airline has entered into a long-term technological cooperation with the Berlin-based company Airxelerate to comprehensively modernize the digital infrastructure in sales to tour operators.

At the heart of this partnership is the implementation of the cloud-based systems Calisto Air and Calisto Ancillary. These solutions enable the airline to automate flight capacity management and pricing in real time. The new architecture closes the existing gap between the airline's complex inventory systems and tour operators' booking platforms, allowing for more precise market adaptation of offers.

A key aspect of the collaboration is the integrated marketing of ancillary services. Tour operators will now be able to integrate services such as seat reservations or additional baggage directly into their own booking processes. This applies to both traditional travel agency sales and digital portals. For TUI Airline, which operates a fleet of over 130 aircraft, this step represents a significant increase in commercial agility. Furthermore, the new capacity pooling mechanisms ensure that available seats can be distributed and priced more efficiently across different markets.

Industry observers see this move as a reaction to increasing competitive pressure in the European leisure flight segment. While traditional scheduled airlines have been relying on highly dynamic pricing systems for years, leisure carriers are now catching up technologically. Through its partnership with Airxelerate, TUI Airline reduces operational complexity and shortens the time it takes to launch new flight offerings. Data-driven management is intended to ensure optimized aircraft utilization, which, given the high fixed costs of flight operations, is a crucial factor for profitability.

The integration of the new software solutions is being rolled out gradually across all of the Group's European markets. Peter Glade, Chief Commercial Officer of TUI Airline, emphasizes the importance of automation and transparency in remaining an attractive partner for tour operators. The scalability of the cloud architecture allows the system to respond flexibly to seasonal fluctuations and short-term changes in demand. This reinforces the TUI Group's strategy of transforming from a traditional travel company into a technology-driven platform company that digitally maps the entire tourism value chain.
