The tour operator Tui Deutschland intends to largely withdraw from the business travel segment. The workforce was informed that First Business Travel will no longer be continued in its current form.

The Handelsblatt quotes from internal employee information that negotiations on the future of the around 2022 employees are to start in January 300. In any case, the business travel area should no longer be independent and should be reduced to a “minimum”.

The background to this is that the number of business travelers who used business travel agents was already falling before the corona pandemic. The crisis led to an almost complete slump, from which Tui has not yet been able to recover. The works council sees the matter a little differently and is of the opinion that there is still great potential in the care of SMEs.

Works council chief Jakobi hopes that as many affected employees as possible can find accommodation in other areas of the group, for example in travel agencies. The negotiations will then show whether this will succeed or not. In any case, at Tui there will only be limited support for corporate customers.
