Tyrolean business representatives plan virtual regional airline

Advertising

After the withdrawal of the Lufthansa Tyrolean business representatives and politicians are working on establishing a virtual regional airline for the Frankfurt-Innsbruck route. The concept is intended to restore lost international flight connections, which are considered crucial for the region's economy and tourism. According to State Minister for Economic Affairs Mario Gerber, efforts to restore the important connection to Frankfurt are being vigorously pursued.

The planned airline will primarily serve the hubs of Frankfurt and Vienna. A third destination is also under discussion. Local tourism associations and companies are being discussed as possible shareholders. The business model, like the virtual airline Skyhub PAD in Paderborn, envisages chartering aircraft and crews and handling ticketing and marketing itself.
