A passenger from the USA is demanding 5 million US dollars in damages from the airline EgyptAir.

Esraa Hezain, 35, filed the lawsuit after she suffered second-degree burns on a flight from New York to Cairo when her hot tea was spilled during significant turbulence. Hezain says she suffered burns to her abdomen, thighs and buttocks, which she describes as "severe" and "permanent."

Her lawsuit alleges that cabin crew did not adequately warn passengers of the turbulence. In addition, the tray table was unstable and did not allow for a safe placement of the teacup. Hezain's $5 million claim relates to physical and psychological stress as a result of the injuries. The case is currently being reviewed by an expert who will assess the long-term extent of the injuries.
