Following the discovery of the bodies of six hostages in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli trade union federation Histadrut has announced a nationwide protest strike for Monday.

The strike was scheduled to begin at 06:00 a.m. local time and from 08:00 a.m. it would also affect Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv, which will lead to the suspension of all landings and departures. Union leader Alon Bar David stated that the killing of the hostages in Gaza was unacceptable and called for a quick negotiation of an agreement with Hamas. The Israeli army had previously discovered the bodies of the hostages in a tunnel in the south of the Gaza Strip. While the Israeli military blames Hamas for the deaths, a Hamas spokesman claims that the hostages were killed by Israeli bombardment.
