Venice will charge entrance fees for day tourists on significantly more days in 2025, said City Councillor for Finance Michele Zuin.

The number of days on which the fee is charged will increase from 29 to 54, including the Easter holidays and the period from mid-April to the end of July on weekends and public holidays. The city is reacting to the high number of day visitors. The fee is five euros for early bookings, but increases to ten euros for short-term bookings.

The QR code for access control can be downloaded online, otherwise there is a risk of fines of up to 300 euros. The measure, which was tested in a test phase in 2024, brought the city revenue of 2,4 million euros from 485.000 visitors. Mayor Luigi Brugnaro emphasizes the need for the measure to control mass tourism and relieve the pressure on the historic city center.
