The Vienna Lounge at Vienna Airport has achieved a historic success at the Priority Pass Excellence Awards 2026, being named “Lounge of the Year” in Europe for the third time in a row.
This award is based on the evaluation of approximately 700.000 reviews from members of the Priority Pass network, which comprises more than 1.800 locations worldwide. This puts the Vienna location ahead of strong international competition. Travelers' decisions are based on criteria such as service quality, culinary offerings, and the facilities. Furthermore, the lounges in Vienna set a new visitor record in 2025 with over one million guests.
The successful concept of the approximately 2.500-square-meter Vienna Lounge combines functional travel infrastructure with local cultural elements. A key component is the collaboration with the Leopold Museum, which has allowed high-quality art prints by masters such as Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele to be integrated into the interior design. In addition to its visual focus, the lounge offers practical amenities such as relaxation rooms, showers, and a conference area with a direct view of the airport apron. Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG (Vienna Airport), sees the repeated award as confirmation of the strategy to position Vienna as a premium location in international air travel.
The DoN group, Austria's largest privately owned catering company, is responsible for the culinary offerings. The gastronomic concept is designed to meet high quality standards and reflect traditional Austrian hospitality. Christopher Evans, CEO of Collinson International, emphasized at the awards ceremony that passenger expectations for exclusive travel experiences are at a record high. The Vienna Lounge fulfills these demands through a combination of authentic local character and professional service, which has propelled it to the top of the European rankings within the global Priority Pass network.
Economically, the award underscores the growing importance of ancillary services in air travel. The increasing number of users highlights the trend toward high-quality lounges away from the public terminal areas. By integrating regional partners from the arts and gastronomy sectors, Vienna Airport successfully differentiates itself from the standardized lounges of other major airports. This focus on quality and brand identity not only secures prestigious accolades for the airport but also strengthens customer loyalty among frequent flyers and business travelers.
