The low-cost airline Wizz Air has carried eight million passengers since the Vienna-Schwechat base began operations. The anniversary passenger was on a flight from Malaga to Vienna and was presented with a 200 euro voucher.
“Since opening its base in Vienna, Wizz Air has grown into an important location partner with six aircraft stationed. Now the next pleasing milestone: We warmly congratulate on 8 million passengers in Vienna,” said airport director Julian Jäger.
Following the bankruptcies of Air Berlin and Niki, Wizz Air began flight connections to/from Vienna in April 2018. A base was opened in the same year. Initially this was operated by Wizz Air Hungary. Meanwhile the corporate sister is coming Wizz Air Malta for usee.g. In Vienna, Ryanair faces fierce competition, although over the last 12 months it has become apparent that the opponents are increasingly avoiding each other when it comes to overlaps in the route networks.
