The low-cost airline Wizz Air compared which destinations from Austria were trending in 2022 and 2023 based on the flight tickets sold. The carrier was able to notice some changes.

While destinations in Croatia, France, Israel and Pristina were particularly popular in the summer of 2022, the following year the destinations Yerevan, Dubai and Abu Dhabi were particularly popular. Wizz Air also recorded more bookings in the direction of Kutaisi. It should be noted that many summer destinations that were offered in 2022 were no longer part of the flight schedule from Vienna-Schwechat in 2023. For example, destinations such as Mallorca, Menorca and Luqa (Malta) have been deleted.

In 2023, Wizz Air said it carried out around 10.000 flights to/from Vienna-Schwechat. Compared to the value achieved in the previous period, this corresponds to an increase of around 1.500 flight movements. The pink low-cost airline expects further growth for the current year 2024. However, no new destinations have been announced from Vienna-Schwechat for a long time. But the comeback in Salzburg is taking shape. From this airport they want to offer flights to Skopje, London-Luton and Bucharest (Otopeni)..

For the upcoming 2024 semester break, which will soon start staggered, Wizz Air is expecting a particularly large number of passengers heading to Armenia, Georgia and the United Kingdom. Likewise, the destinations Madeira, Nice and Keflavik are currently said to be in greater demand than other destinations.
