As of December 1, 2022, the private railway operator Westbahn will temporarily and on a voluntary basis increase the wages and salaries of those employees who are subject to the railway workers' collective agreement. This follows a recommendation from the Chamber of Commerce.

The negotiations between the social partners are deadlocked. The Vida union said the latest offer was purely cosmetic. The WKO, on the other hand, maintains that it must also be economically viable and has left the negotiating table for the time being. In a broadcast, the railway companies were recommended to voluntarily pay by December 1, 2022 according to the latest offer. The Westbahn is now following this recommendation.

Unless there is a short-term cancellation, Monday, November 28, 2022 an Austria-wide railway strike Walk across the stage. The union Vida is calling on its members for a day-long walkout. While a high level of participation is to be expected at the Austrian Federal Railways, it is unclear how many employees of the private railways will participate. In any case, restrictions are to be expected.
