Niederrhein Airport in Weeze recorded significant growth in 2024, with passenger volume reaching almost two million travelers. This represents an increase of 24 percent compared to the previous year and even 60 percent more than in the last pre-Corona year of 2019. The average aircraft capacity utilization reached almost 90 percent, which underlines the attractiveness of the location.

With around 24.000 takeoffs and landings, the number of flight movements also increased by 26 percent. August was the month with the highest number of flights, and more than 230.000 passengers were counted in December. The route to Palma de Mallorca was particularly popular and will continue to be the focus in summer 2025 with up to 16 weekly connections.

A further increase in passenger numbers to over two million is expected for 2025. The innovations include three new destinations: Paphos (Cyprus), Crotone (Italy) and Olsztyn (Poland), each of which will be served twice a week. The cooperation between tour operator Tui and Ryanair will also generate additional demand for package holidays. The positive development shows that Weeze Airport is increasingly establishing itself as an important hub for holiday travel and is further strengthening its position in air traffic.
