The low-cost airline Wizz Air is launching some special flights on the occasion of the European Football Championship, which will take place in Germany this year. They are also heading towards airports such as Frankfurt am Main, Stuttgart and Munich. These airports are otherwise not in the route network.

From Vienna-Schwechat Airport, Wizz Air will launch special flights to Berlin-Brandenburg and Dortmund. The last-mentioned destination had been a regular part of the route network for some time, but was abandoned in competition with Ryanair. In the meantime, the competitor no longer serves this route.

The special flights offered from Vienna-Schwechat are as follows:

Vienna - DortmundJun 17 2024 12:00pmEUR 159
Dortmund – ViennaJun 18 2024 08:15pmEUR 159

Munich, Stuttgart, Leipzig and Frankfurt am Main are also served

Wizz Air is also launching special flights to Germany from other European countries during the European Football Championship. From Bucharest (Otopeni) the destinations Frankfurt am Main and Munich are temporarily offered. From Cluj it also goes to these two airports, which are not part of the regular Wizz Air route network. From London-Luton, Wizz Air UK is launching special flights to Frankfurt, Cologne/Bonn and Dortmund.

Leipzig/Halle will be provided with special flights from Milan (Malpensa) and Rome (Fiumicino). There are also football fan flights to Dortmund from Malpensa. To Stuttgart-Echterdingen, which is not normally on the route network, you set course from Budapest and Debrecen. There is a possibility that Wizz Air could launch further special flights for the European Football Championship if there is enough demand.

Prices higher than on the regular line

It should also be noted that the special flights charge significantly higher prices than many Wizz Air customers are used to. If you're hoping for a bargain for ten euros, you're wrong, because the special flights are available one-way from 159 euros. Participants in the paid customer loyalty program receive discounts.

“We’re excited to support fans by bringing them to Euro 2024 matches so they can see and cheer on their favorites in person. The flight schedules have been specially adapted to the dates of the matches to make it easier for fans to travel home,” said Valeria Bragarenco, Communications Manager of Wizz Air.

According to the airline, these are special flights that are being launched on the occasion of the European Football Championship. These are offered at your own expense, which is why they are not charter flights. There are currently no plans for the routes served during the European Championships to be offered permanently.
