Zagreb Airport is heading for another record year, recording significant growth in passenger numbers compared to 2023. According to the latest data from the European Union's statistical office Eurostat, Ryanair in particular has made a significant contribution to this increase.

The low-cost carrier saw strong growth on leisure routes to Malta and Malaga, with increases of 72% and 98% respectively year-on-year. Zagreb's busiest route remains London Stansted, outperforming Croatia Airlines and British Airways' London Heathrow service by over 16.000 travellers.

In contrast, some of the Lufthansa Group's hubs, such as Frankfurt and Vienna, have seen passenger numbers decline year-on-year. Croatia Airlines also saw a decline in passenger numbers on its Brussels route, partly due to competition from Ryanair and the withdrawal of Brussels Airlines. The Zurich route also saw a 25% decline compared to 2019.
