Zurich Airport once again voted the best airport in Europe

Zurich Airport has consolidated its leading position in European air traffic and has once again been awarded best airport in its category at the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards. In the group of airports handling 25 to 40 million passengers, the Swiss hub has thus secured first place for the ninth consecutive year.

The award, presented by the international umbrella organization of airport operators, Airports Council International (ACI) World, is based on a comprehensive survey of passengers directly at the terminal. Thirty-four different performance criteria are evaluated, ranging from the efficiency of security checks and cleanliness to the quality of catering facilities.

Lukas Brosi, CEO of Flughafen Zürich AG, attributes the airport's continued success to the precise collaboration of the various partner companies at the site. In addition to the infrastructure itself, the reliability of the processes is particularly praised. The airport also recently achieved Level 3 of the ACI Customer Experience Program, which requires the systematic use of customer feedback to optimize operational procedures. This accreditation is considered an important benchmark for service quality within the industry and underscores the airport's goal of remaining competitive among international hub airports through short distances and high punctuality rates.

Additional market observations show that Zurich Airport regularly achieves top rankings in other prestigious rankings, such as the Skytrax World Airport Awards. Last year, the operator invested heavily in modernizing the terminals and digitizing passenger processes. For example, the introduction of biometric access controls was accelerated to further reduce processing times. Despite the high costs associated with operating in Switzerland, the strategy of differentiating itself from other major European airports, which more frequently struggle with capacity constraints and service reductions, through a premium product appears to be paying off.

For the current fiscal year 2026, Flughafen Zürich AG is planning further infrastructure adjustments to accommodate the growing passenger volume. The focus here is particularly on expanding retail space and optimizing the passenger experience. The ASQ Award serves as an important marketing tool for the company to foster long-term loyalty among both business travelers and transfer passengers. Since the ASQ program encompasses over 400 airports worldwide, this renewed victory in the medium-sized hub category is considered significant evidence of the international competitiveness of Swiss air transport infrastructure.
