The Airbus A321 is currently not available ex works as a freighter. More and more passenger aircraft of this type are being converted and are flying packages and pallets instead of passengers. Even Lufthansa has some planes converted. Now the European manufacturer is thinking out loud about a cargo variant of the A321neo.

Many Boeing 757s have a second life as freighter after their use as a passenger aircraft. Since cargo demand rose sharply in many regions of the world during the corona pandemic, the prices for used B757s also rose significantly. Some airlines then discovered the Airbus A321, which was cheaper on the second-hand market. So, among others, Smartlynx and Lufthansa. More and more older aircraft of this type are being converted into cargo planes, and that seems to have made the manufacturer Airbus curious as well.

The company recently announced that it would launch a cargo variant of the A350. Now an A321neoF could follow. Leeham News reports that this could be offered as an entry-level model. The effort would be very tight for the manufacturer. A final decision has not yet been made at Airbus.
