A380: BA extends maintenance contract with Lufthansa Technik

Advertising

British Airways seems to be relying on the Airbus A380 machine type in the long term, because a corresponding maintenance contract with Lufthansa Technik was extended ahead of time until at least 2027. This includes base maintenance for the 12 super jumbos of the IAG subsidiary.

Crane boss Carsten Spohr has repeatedly said that he believes the re-use of the A380 aircraft at Lufthansa is unlikely. British Airways continues to trust this pattern and wants to get it back in the air. Possibly one could even become the only European operator of the Airbus A380.

BA boss Doyle has not yet announced a specific date for the return of the largest member of the fleet. He just emphasized that it is an important part of British Airways and that this pattern will continue to be used. In any case, the contract concluded with Lufthansa Technik can be interpreted to mean that BA is serious.
