The Autobahn GmbH has blocked the hard shoulder of the A44 in front of Düsseldorf Airport with warning beacons to prevent illegal parking.
According to Autobahn GmbH, many road users park there to pick up passengers, sometimes for longer periods, while they walk to the terminal. The beacons, which already begin on the A52, are a temporary measure. From 2025, the hard shoulder is to be replaced by a so-called maneuvering lane in order to optimize traffic flow.
