On October 1, 2021, Austrian Airlines will reactivate the non-stop connection between Vienna and Montreal, Canada. The background is also that fully vaccinated people have been able to enter the North American state since September 7, 2021.

For the time being, three weekly rounds are to be offered with the Boeing 767 machine type. The airline last operated the route from April 2019 to March 2020 before it had to be suspended due to the corona pandemic.

“After more than a year and a half, we can finally add Montreal to our destination portfolio again. We look forward to continuing our successful cooperation with Air Canada and strengthening our home base in Vienna, ”says Austrian Airlines CCO Michael Trestl.

Since September 7th, fully vaccinated travelers with a PCR test can travel to Canada without any further restrictions. “We are delighted that Canada is setting a good example on the North American subcontinent and making tourist travel easier. Thanks to this measure, we can again connect people around the globe, regardless of whether they are business travelers, families or travelers who want to discover new things with us, ”says CCO Michael Trestl.

The resumption of the AUA long-haul connection is also seen as positive at codeshare partner Air Canada. Mark Galardo, Senior Vice President, Network Planning and Revenue Management: “We are delighted to welcome Austrian Airlines back to Montreal. Especially in the winter months, Vienna is a unique destination with its beautiful palaces and Christmas markets. In addition, the longstanding cooperation between the two airlines enables passengers in Vienna to have a seamless connection to important destinations in Europe and the Middle East ”.
