The Turkish airline SunExpress offers from March 26, 2023 for check-in at the cash desk. All international flights are affected. If you don't use the online check-in or, where available, the machines, you have to pay extra.

The holiday airline offers that the “Airport Check-In” option can be booked in advance. In this case, you charge 2,99 euros per person and route for using the service at the counter. If you do not book and pay for this in advance, five euros per person and route will be charged. These are then to be paid on the spot.

Check-in fees are generally controversial, but more and more airlines are charging extra for using the counters. The amount can vary greatly, because some low-cost airlines can cost 50 euros and more. Occasionally there are tariffs in which counter check-in is included again for various reasons.

This also applies to SunExpress, because according to a statement from the company, the new regulation only applies to flights booked on or after March 13, 2023. Generally, passengers who have a group booking, who have booked the fare classes SunPremium or SunPriority or who are departing from an airport where online check-in is not possible can check in at the counter free of charge. Passengers with reduced mobility are also exempt. There is also no counter check-in fee for domestic flights within Turkey.
