From Thursday, Austria will also classify Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo and Montenegro as green. For travelers, this means that there is no need to go into quarantine if the 3G certificate is available. There is also no need to fill out the pre-travel clearance.

Russia made it onto the “red list”. Austria is upgrading to "virus variant area" with effect from Thursday. This means that quarantine obligations arise. In contrast to Germany, however, there is the possibility that you can “free yourself” after five days.

With effect from Thursday, July 8, 2021, the following countries are classified as “virus variant areas”:

  • Botswana
  • Brazil
  • Eswatini
  • India
  • Lesotho
  • Malawi
  • Mozambique
  • Namibia
  • Nepal
  • Zambia
  • Zimbabwe
  • South Africa
  • Uruguay
  • United Kingdom
  • Russian Federation

Since the classification of the countries and thus also the requirements or possible forced quarantine can change regularly, vacationers are urgently recommended that they keep an eye on developments with regard to their return journey to Austria. People residing in Austria have the option of taking a test that may be required within 24 hours in Austria. In this case, however, the pre-travel clearance must be completed.
