From November 2022: Uganda Airlines sets course for London

Expected from November 2022, Uganda Airlines will operate non-stop flights between Entebbe and London Heathrow. Long-haul aircraft of the type Airbus A330-800 are to be used as aircraft.

The announcement follows lengthy negotiations between the United Kingdom and Uganda. These were not necessarily characterized by harmony, as the government of the East African state even accused that of the United Kingdom of deliberately delaying the approval of the route rights. It was threatened that action would be taken against British Airways.

The approval is not yet completely in the dry cloths, but in Uganda the matter has been made a top priority. President Museveni is personally intervening with the UK Government and its Civil Aviation Authority. It is hoped that the problem of non-stop flights will be resolved quickly and that Uganda Airlines will be able to fly between the two countries three times a week from November 2022.

Uganda has relaxed entry requirements

Tourists have been able to enter the East African country more easily since April 27, 2022. Persons who can prove that they have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will no longer have to be tested by means of a PCR before entering or leaving the country. If you have not been vaccinated or have only received a dose, you still need a negative PCR result, which must not be older than 72 hours. There are exceptions for children under the age of five, among others.

At times, Uganda also carried out PCR swabs immediately after landing. Participation was mandatory and in addition to the obligation to submit the negative findings. However, this practice was already canceled in February 2022 without replacement. Since April 27, 2022, fully vaccinated people have been able to enter and leave Uganda without having to submit a PCR result.
