Steyr, a city with a rich history and cultural heritage, will once again be a magnet for music lovers in the summer of 2025. The Steyr Music Festival, which has been held in the historic moat of Lamberg Castle for 31 years, will once again combine outstanding artistic performances, innovative productions and timeless music in its upcoming season. From July 24 to August 9, visitors can expect an incomparable mix of tribute to pop culture and the magic of musicals.

The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly the tribute show "One Night with ABBA", in which the legendary hits of the Swedish cult band shine in new splendor. Over nine evenings, classics such as "Mamma Mia", "Dancing Queen" and "Waterloo", which have influenced entire generations, will be played. With a mixture of modern stage design, visual effects and impressive live performances, this production promises to transport ABBA fans into a world full of nostalgia and joie de vivre.

The show is not only a look back at ABBA's career, but also proof of the timeless appeal of their music. Artistic director Karl-Michael Ebner emphasizes: "ABBA has had a lasting impact on pop music. With 'One Night with ABBA' we want to bring this magic to our stage and at the same time inspire a new audience for their music."

In addition to the ABBA homage, the festival is offering a new edition of the successful "Musical Fever" program. Under the title "Musical Fever 2.0," the production once again fuses popular musical classics into a rousing medley. Inspired by the pandemic-related first edition, the new production combines well-known works from the musical world with creative surprises. The actors who already thrilled audiences in the "Rocky Horror Show" last year are returning and lighting up the castle moat with their voices and performances.

A venue with a special flair

The Steyr Music Festival is not only characterized by its top-class productions, but also by its unique setting. The moat of Lamberg Castle, which is transformed into an open-air stage every year in two months of construction work, offers an incomparable atmosphere. The combination of historical architecture and modern stage technology makes every performance a special experience.

Over the past few decades, Steyr has established itself as an important venue for musicals. Productions such as "Les Misérables," "My Fair Lady," and "Evita" have made the festival known far beyond the city limits. Guest appearances and events such as "Cinema under the Stars" also enrich the program and attract a wide audience.

tickets and early bird benefits

Ticket sales for the Steyr Music Festival start on December 1, 2024. Early birds who purchase their tickets by December 24 will benefit from a twelve percent discount. Given the popularity of the festival, early booking is recommended to secure a place at one of the performances.

The Steyr Music Festival proves once again that it is one of the leading cultural events in Austria. With "One Night with ABBA" and "Musical Fever 2.0", a varied program is offered that will delight both fans of pop music and lovers of musicals. The mixture of nostalgic sounds, creative productions and the special backdrop makes the festival a highlight of the summer of 2025.
