The Max Air Boeing 737-400, registration 5N-MBD, suffered multiple tire blowouts while landing at Abuja Airport. The medium-haul jet was on a domestic flight from Yola.

The flight was uneventful until it touched down on the runway. However, several wheels burst on landing. The machine could still be brought to a standstill. The 144 passengers and six crew members were able to disembark safely from the 5N-MBD. Abuja Airport had to be closed for some time as the damaged plane first had to be towed off the runway.

Max Air is a Nigerian airline founded in 2008. The fleet currently consists of two Embraer 145s, one Boeing 747 and four Boeing 737s. It is based at Kano International Airport. The incident in question occurred on Sunday, May 7, 2023. The 5N-MBD is affected.
