Adventure travel: A survey by Icelandair reveals Germans' wishes for 2025

With the New Year approaching, new adventures and destinations are on many people's agendas. According to a survey by Icelandair, 62% of Germans prefer extraordinary experiences and nature trips to material gifts. This preference underlines the growing desire for a "bucket list" full of unforgettable moments that will make 2025 a special one. Adventure travel is seen as a source of self-confidence and spiritual renewal - in keeping with the motto "New year, new me".

The study shows a continuous growth in search queries for adventure travel. There is particularly strong interest in North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria, the leaders in search volume. While Hesse recorded a remarkable increase of 2022% between 2023 and 30, Thuringia is experiencing a late but dynamic upswing with an increase of 32% in 2024. This shows that interest in adventure travel in Germany is unbroken.

Health Benefits: Psychological and Physical Renewal

Dr. Deborah Lee, a mental health expert, points out that adventure travel not only reduces stress, but also boosts self-confidence and promotes physical well-being. Activities such as glacier hiking or ice climbing offer both physical and mental challenges. The controlled stress of such trips promotes a sense of achievement and contributes to inner balance. Combined with rest periods in natural environments, such as geothermal baths in Iceland, these experiences can bring about profound regeneration.

Iceland as an ideal destination for 2025

Icelandair suggests Iceland as the ideal starting point for adventure travel. The country offers a variety of activities ranging from Northern Lights tours to extreme sports such as snowmobiling. The offer is complemented by interactive tools such as a quiz that suggests the best activities for travelers.

This combination of adventure and nature experience strikes a chord with many Germans and makes Iceland a top travel destination for the coming year. The results of the survey and the health-promoting aspects of such trips could make 2025 the year of conscious travel.
