The Greek Aegean Airlines will fly from Vienna to Heraklion in the summer flight schedule 2021. Two weekly rounds will be offered between May and September 2021. The route is new in the carrier's route network.

In the summer of 2021, Aegean will station one machine each in addition to the existing bases in Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Rhodes and Chania on the islands of Mykonos, Santorin and Corfu. These are to be used to fly to destinations in the DA-CH region, among others. “We are now at the most difficult turning point in the pandemic: We have to create the necessary conditions for recovery as soon as health conditions permit. Therefore, we have now announced our extensive flight schedule for 2021 directly to the region and the islands, which will start at the end of March and thus shortly before Easter. Our commitment to safe travel for health in 2021, as in 2020, and our commitment to support tourism remain unchanged, ”said Dimitris Gerogiannis, CEO of Aegean.

From Germany, the carrier will offer 15 routes from seven German airports. There are daily flights to Heraklion on Crete throughout the summer from Frankfurt and Munich, and four times a week from Düsseldorf and Stuttgart - the program also includes three weekly flights from the new Berlin capital airport BER. Rhodes is served three times a week from Frankfurt and Munich, and twice a week from the Bavarian capital to Santorini - also a new connection. There are also flights to Thessaloniki from Nuremberg, Hamburg and Berlin.

Swiss passengers will reach five island destinations from Zurich and Geneva in the coming season. From Zurich there are five flights a week to Heraklion, Rhodes, Mykonos and Santorini are served twice a week, Thessaloniki three times a week - Aegean is adding the last three destinations to its flight program. Two weekly flight connections from Geneva to Heraklion are also new to the flight schedule. This corresponds to a capacity increase of 194 percent between Greece and Switzerland.
