The IAG subsidiary Aer Lingus is founding a UK branch based in Belfast. The applications for AOC and operating licenses have already been submitted to the UK Civil Aviation Authority. The certificates are expected to be issued in February 2021.

Aer Lingus is building a new base in Manchester. From there flights to New York, Orlando and Boston are to be offered. Due to the currently unclear Brexit situation, the decision was made to found a UK subsidiary.

According to CH-Aviation.com, two Airbus A330-300s (EI-EDY and EI-ELA) will initially be stationed. These will be re-registered to the new AOC. Two brand new A321LR will also be used from Manchester. The new base is at the expense of the previous presence in Shannon, Ireland and is at least indirectly competing with sister company British Airways.
