The UK offshoot of IAG group member Aer Lingus received - subject to the issue of AOC and operating license - the approval to operate flights between the United Kingdom and the USA.

Erected at Manchester Airport Aer Lingus UK a new base. From this point, New Jork JFK, Orlando and Boston will be served, among others. The fleet will consist of two Airbus A321LR and two A330-300. These have been withdrawn from the Shannon base and will be re-registered in the UK register.

In December 2020, Aer Lingus UK applied to the UK Civil Aviation Authority for an AOC and operating license. This is necessary due to the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. The IAG subsidiary wants to grow more strongly in the UK and will inevitably enter into internal competition with British Airways. The Shannon base, on the other hand last reported the staff with a commitment to reinstatement from. Those affected should get unemployment benefits in the meantime.
