For just one ruble, 51 percent of the Aurora airline will be transferred to the Sakhalin regional government. The equivalent of Aeroflot earns around one euro cent. The oblast becomes the sole owner of the airline.

It is planned that various airlines will be merged into one major airline for eastern Russia. Regional aircraft are also to be purchased in order to be able to serve routes with less traffic. The Kremlin suggests that Russian-made machines should be used.

This is currently not the case with Aurora, because the fleet consists exclusively of aircraft from Airbus and DHC. The deal between Aeroflot and the regional government is still ongoing. According to local reports, however, this should be finalized in the next few months. In the future, numerous carriers bought by the oblast are to appear under a single brand. It is also planned that airlines such as Alrosa, which are to remain independent, can use the future brand as a franchise.
