From February 3, 2022, the German shipping company Aida will again allow individual shore leave. Until then, passengers may only leave the ship in so-called “bubbles”. This has led to heavy criticism in recent days.
Aida Cruises recently introduced that passengers can only disembark in groups and must stay together on land. As a result, private viewings that deviated from the shipping company's offer were no longer possible. This led to criticism, but Aida justified this with protective measures due to the omicron corona variant.
With effect from February 3, 2022, this concept will be abandoned. It is recommended that passengers continue to book excursions organized or brokered by the shipping company, but this is no longer mandatory for shore leave.
