Due to the corona pandemic, Air Algérie will probably have to wait longer for new aircraft. Although they got the green light for 30 to 40 new machines last year, the government is now putting the brakes on again.

The reason for this is that Air Algérie has flown in a loss of more than 250 million euros because of the pandemic. The budget actually earmarked by the government for the modernization is used to stabilize and rescue the company. The six machines that should have been bought in the first tranche were also put on the back burner. Whether and when the project will be tackled again is still completely open.
