The joint venture between Etihad Airways and Air Arabia, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, is scheduled to take off for the first time on July 14, 2020. The newly founded carrier is one of two low-cost airlines in which the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has an indirect stake. Wizzair Abu Dhabi is scheduled to take off with up to six Airbus A321s in autumn.

Air Arabia Abu Dhabi will initially connect the capital of the United Arab Emirates with Alexandria and Sohag. The carrier bears the IATA two-letter code 3L, which was previously assigned to the Austrian regional airline InterSky. The home base is Abu Dhabi Airport. Flights can already be booked on the Air Arabia website.
