Air Arabia Abu Dhabi launches city check-in service

Advertising

The low-cost airline Air Arabia Abu Dhabi opens the possibility of so-called "city check-in" in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The aim is to enable travelers to drop off their luggage and receive their boarding passes near their hotels.

For the time being, the service will be offered in the ticket shop located in the city center. Travelers can use the service from 24 hours to eight hours before departure. The suitcases are to be transported to the airport by Air Arabia Abu Dhabi so that travelers can go directly to the gate.

In a second expansion step, the carrier wants to set up further city check-in options. Efforts are being made to enable customers to receive their boarding pass or check in their suitcases "nearby". Details have not yet been given, but it is conceivable that a network of partner shops could be set up.

Some airlines offer city check-in options in other cities. In Vienna, for example, there is the option of using a boarding pass when flying with participating airlines at Landstrasse station (Wien-Mitte).. Suitcases can also be checked in there – if they are included. On the one hand, the use of the service is linked to the fact that the booked airline has a contract with the City Airport Train and, on the other hand, you need a ticket for this train. The ticket can also be bought on site if required.
