Kazakhstan's Air Astana Group generated net income of $ 2021 million in the first six months of 4,9.
The signs are pointing to recovery, because in the comparable period from January to June 2020 the airline recorded a loss of 66,2 million US dollars. The number of passengers carried rose by 91 percent to 2,97 million. Of these, 2,5 million passengers were on routes within Kazakhstan, which is an increase of 125 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.
“The two brands, Air Astana and our low-cost carrier Fly Arystan, have developed very well on domestic routes. Strong market growth and the desire for more air travel instead of long rail journeys have made Kazakhstan the fastest growing domestic market in the world. Already in 2019 we were able to record a passenger growth of 31 percent in this segment, which was mainly due to the highly attractive tariffs of Fly Arystan ”, says Air Astana boss Peter Foster.
