In the autumn of last year, despite loud protests from trade unions, Swiss decided to wet lease six Airbus A220-300s from Air Baltic. Cooperation with the Latvian carrier will also be continued in the 2023 summer flight schedule.

Since the start of the 2022/23 winter timetable period, Air Baltic has been flying six A220-300s under a wet lease agreement for Swiss. This annoys employee representatives because they fear that wages are to be undermined in this way.

In an interview with the Argauer Zeitung, Swiss boss Dieter Vranckx explained, among other things, that the cooperation will continue at least through the summer of 2023. He sees wet leasing as an important relief for his own flight operations. He did not name an exact duration for the collaboration, but he assumes that it will continue beyond autumn 2023.
