The Latvian airline Air Baltic is completely withdrawing from the Russian market. The carrier announced that all flights planned to/from Russia will be cancelled. This decision follows the one previously announced temporary flight disruption.

Latvia and the European Union have closed airspace to carriers from the Russian Federation. In response, Russia bans airlines from the EU. Air Baltic is affected and temporarily canceled all flights to the largest country in the world.

Now it has been decided that the Russian market will be completely abandoned. In a message, however, you are open to re-entering at a later date. In the past, flights between Riga and Russia were in high demand, which is partly due to historical reasons, since there are quite a few family ties and therefore demand due to the common Soviet past.

In the 2022 summer flight schedule, Air Baltic is increasingly focusing on the ACMI services segment. This has only played a subordinate role in the past. One is from Dusseldorf fly with five Airbus A220-300 on behalf of the Lufthansa low-cost subsidiary Eurowings. There are currently two machines of this type from Stuttgart for the carrier in use.
